FileInjector -- Documentation
Notices and Credits:

Copyright by Justin V. McCormick 1/5/88 -- All Rights Reserved.
Freely redistributable, no one may charge money or barter services for
distributing FileInjector beyond cost of media or telecommunications
connect charges without express written consent by the author.
FileInjector is based on the PathMaster(tm) File Selector system used
in PIXmate, IntroCAD, and the soon to be released FrameGrabber software.
Many thanks to Lynn LeBaron and Robert Peck for getting the iconify feature
working properly! Special thanks to Scott Evernden for input device
techniques.
Cranking it Up:
---------------
FileInjector is simple to use! From the CLI, type:
RUN FileInjector
From the Workbench, merely double-click on the icon. After a few
moments, the FileInjector window will pop-up, and the FileInjector will
read and display your current directory. To exit FileInjector, click on
the CLOSEWINDOW box in the upper left of the FileInjector titlebar. The
small gadget to the left of the Depth Gadgets in the upper right of the
window is the Iconify gadget. Normally, you would leave FileInjector in
its shrunken "icon" state. This way, FileInjector will automatically
open and shrink itself during use.
Using it:
---------
By default, FileInjector uses the HotKey combination of CONTROL-
LEFT/ALT-"f" to "wake up". Typically, you might be using a text editor
or a terminal program. Whenever you need to type a filename, you press the
HotKey sequence. No matter where you are, the FileInjector will pop-up!
Select a directory and filename, either by double-clicking on a file entry,
by clicking the "Inject" Gadget, or by pressing "RETURN" when the File string
gadget is active. As soon as you select a file, FileInjector will hide
itself and bring the previous screen and window to the front. FileInjector
will "inject" the filename THE NEXT PLACE YOU CLICK THE LEFT MOUSE BUTTON!
That's all there is to it!
Other Features:
---------------
When you click on the "Config" gadget, another window pops-up,
allowing you to customize the way FileInjector processes your commands.
You can choose many combinations of HotKeys, and you can choose to output
either filenames, directory names, or both (the default). You can also
add an optional PREFIX and SUFFIX string, each of which may be up to 80
characters! For instance, you could define a PREFIX string of:
"run TxEd "
followed by a SUFFIX string consisting of:
"^J"
(that's carat-J) to end the line with a LINEFEED. Any filenames you select
will be sandwiched between the PREFIX and SUFFIX strings. Note that you can
type "^j", "^J", or press CONTROL-J to produce a LINEFEED in a string.
Once you find some settings you like, you can click on the "Save"
Gadget on the configuration window. FileInjector will save your current
window position, HotKeys, PREFIX/SUFFIX, and Output mode in "S:.FICONFIG".
The next time you use FileInjector, it will restore your settings from this
file.
I certainly hope you find FileInjector useful! Any bug reports,
suggestions, or donations would be most appreciated!
